In Ayurveda, it is called ‘Amavatha’. The toxins ‘ama’ spread through the body through ‘vayu’. The main treatments used are – Choorna Kizhi, in which, a mixture of herbs is applied to body in different positions till the patient sweats a lot; Abhyangam, where special type of oil massage is done in which various strokes are given to the patient according to the disease for 45 minutes per day for at least 14 days; therapies like Snehapanam, Vamanam, Manal kizhi, Virechanam, Podikizhi, Elakkizhi, Pizhichil, Vaitharana / Kshara basti, Navarakizhi etc are done to get the maximum results.
