This surgery involves replacing a damaged, worn or diseased knee with an artificial joint. This is useful in curingosteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, hemophilia, gout, disorders that cause unusual bone growth (bone dysplasias), death of bone in the knee joint following blood supply problems (avascular necrosis), knee injury and deformity. Depending on the condition of your knee, either your full knee joint will be replaced or part of it.
You will need walking aid for over a month and will be back at normal tasks in two months. Your full recovery can take over a year. This may cause infection on the surgery site, damage to blood vessels, fracture or stiffness.
